Abstract

This paper aims at force analysis of rotary kiln elastomers under static, dynamic, and thermal loadings. The main goal is to extract maximum shear and normal forces which should be tolerated by the elastomers in severe operational conditions. The understudy rotary kiln has two supports, each comprises two stations, which is made by Polysius Company and installed in the Neyzar Qom Cement Company. At each station, the elastomers are distributed in two levels with different orientations to handle the constraint forces caused by different applied loadings. In this project, first, the three-dimensional CAD model of the kiln is produced. Then, based on the severe operational conditions which were reported by the manufacturer and the cement company, the force analysis is conducted by means of a commercial finite element software package. In order to validate the accuracy of the results, some of them will be compared with simple engineering calculations as well.
